About Karen Gray-Kilfoil
| As an animal behaviourist Karen has consulted pet owners since 1990. She has successfully treated hundreds of dogs and cats (and some owners!) with behaviour problems and gained recognition among veterinarians and animal trainers, with whom she worked closely. | |
| Karen has been running Puppy Pre-School since 1996. | |
| Karen has a B.A. degree in Social Sciences and Humanities, with special emphasis on social, developmental and educational psychology and including one year of biology. She has also worked as a qualified pre-primary school teacher. | Karen is a founder member and an Accredited (canine & feline) Animal Behaviour Consultant of Southern Africa and complies with this association’s constitution and code of ethics. She is also a Registered member of the South African Board of Companion Animal Professionals. | |
| Karen has featured on television, radio and in various publications nationwide in connection with animal behaviour. She also writes articles for various publications and gives presentations to interested groups. | |
| For five years (2002 – 2007), together with the late Janet Sandell, Karen facilitated a voluntary program called “ANIMALS FOR FUN!”, doing humane education at Pollsmoor Prison and in disadvantaged schools. | |
| She now facilitates Pet and Dog Clubs at local schools. | |
| Karen has been involved with various animal welfare organizations . | |
| Karen is an agent for Ethology Academy & is thus involved in training novice behaviourists. | |
| In December 2008 she started an Animal Business Network in Cape Town to improve communication between animal - orientated people and businesses. | |
| Karen lives near Fish Hoek, with her husband Paul, son Scott, and a menagerie of animals. Her other interests include dog agility canine freestyle dancing (recently started); travel (lately Jordan & UAE, Italy, Cambodia & Thailand), handicrafts, qi gong, original play, dancing, singing, wildlife, gardening, reading, photography, walking & natural & complementary healing. |
